Can I leave Mac Mail for Gmail

I have been with Mac since about 1985 ish when I was introduced to a new Apple Mac Plus, since then I have made it my go to system, yes I have had to use Windows for work, and because of incompatabilities between Apple OS and the University sysem, I started using Gmail, why ? well it was easier to switch that fight the system, and spending time trying to find solution, was well tiresum, so and old Gmail account was used, one I got when it was first announced.

I have since then retired and cleaned up Google leaving just enough to keep my account worth while, and the websites I host there, and since Gemini, a lot of my research. Which means I still pay for my account.

I tried going back this week and rediverted all my Mac email back to Gmail, I can't say it was a pleasing experience, the interface and look and feel is just, not Mac.

So I have returned, to Mac. I lost several days of mail that Gmail has put somewhere, so I called quits and reverted back.

Then Apple announced the use of Gemini on Sir or is the other way round, never mind, it was the final push to keep Mac alive as my main OS, yes I wil still keep Google, but as soon as Apple sorts out Siri, I presume later this summer, I will downgrade my Google account. I only kept a decent account level just for Gemini, but as soon as Apple updates, then its a major downgrade.

I know I will need to puchase a new Apple Machine, but my Mackbook Air is 2 years old and I can say, I will want a new machine, a macbook Mini perhaps, and a nice new screen, The Air, I can use just for videos and YouTube.

As for my Linux Machine, well thats another story for later, but safe to say, Its still an interesting experiment, thats cost me nothing, I can access both Apple via iCloud, and also Google, plus it has an interesting Email program called Thunderbirds, and Its Linux, A future I still think has a lot of Legs.
