Markdown is the new me

I have for a long time started a lot of books, and asrticles in Pages, or word, then Google docs, for export as ePubs, but just recently I have been exporting them into markdown .md text files and placing then into a specific Knowledgebase folder that my Obsidian program uses to show me all my knowledge, linked or specificly as individual files.

I can search for specific files and edit them adding new information and updating as I see fit. google can also do much the same preserving the format of the .md file.

Most of these document were originaly made as ePub documents, for distribution as an electronic book, simply because they would be easily read in any number of readers, and I could attach notes to segments of text,  that I could use in research.

But as always, the reader was making this difficult, both to mark, and save, markdown files taske away all these problems and allow linking of text to larger documents to explain a point, or just my comments.

So is ePub dead, hell no many book authors reply on ePub to distribute there books, I love reading a good book on my Kindle, or phone, especialy on holiday, taking a selection of paper books is both heavy and difficult to travel with.

So there it is, I pull together a book on google Doc, export it to markdown save it to my Knowledgebase, and then export it to ePub if I want to read it on holiday.
