Winston Churchill his Speaches

Image
You see and hear a lot of why the middle East has so many problems, but do we realy understand the background to all of this. I am setting a goal to understand the region, and how and why its made up the way it is. I sat and wondered what was the best way, to be honest, I have no idea, so I listened to a couple of podcast, not specific to the problem, more the subject came up in the discussion of the current problem, the podcast was "The Rest is Politics" hosted by   Alastair Campbell  Rory Stewart., both steeped in UK Politics, and who often disagree with each other, but often for good reason. It was during one of the podcast, one of them said he was reading the Speeches of Winston Churchill, a book I have never read, in fact I have not even read a biography of the man, so I took a quick look at Ebay and found a cheap copy of the book, "The Speeches of Winston Churchill" and I am reading it through. Was Winston the problem, I hope not, I have alway...

Google Watch

Image
I have recieved my Google 2 watch to try it out with three daysmy Pixel 3a XL, and first thoughts are, its not bad, the interface to connect the two together was flawless, it just worked. now I an using it full time for its first day, its warning me to keep it on for three days so it collects enough data. I have uploaded a new watch face I thought was interesting, and worked out how to take a photo on the Pixel 3. So I am now lisening to podcasts with a set of old wired earbuds, which is ok, controling the app on the phone. Ladded a GifGaf sim and after a day it sorted its self out and its now live and the watch is saying I can dial out using my app, which I tested, So I will update in three days after its loaded up the needed data. #Pixel-3 #google-watch-2 #GifGaf

The Global Engine: The UK’s Place on the Great Ocean Conveyor Belt

Image
The Global Engine: The UK’s Place on the Great Ocean Conveyor Belt To understand the AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) , we have to zoom out. It is actually the most famous "arm" of the Great Ocean Conveyor Belt —a massive, interconnected system of deep-sea and surface currents that circles the entire planet.  Driven by differences in temperature and saltiness (the thermohaline process), this belt moves water, heat, and nutrients across every ocean on Earth. It is the planet’s primary way of regulating its own temperature. Why the North Atlantic is the "Engine Room" The North Atlantic is where the belt "recharges." As the warm water from the tropics reaches the cold Arctic air, it releases its heat, becomes dense and salty, and sinks . This sinking action acts like a giant pump, pulling more warm water up from the south to take its place. If the AMOC stalls, the entire Global Conveyor Belt loses its momentum. The UK’s Vulnerability Whi...

Science Fiction in predictiing the Future Scifi has a major role to play in looking and trying to predict the future trends. Its a place where authors can let go, and dream up ideas and concepts, some times inventing sometimes letting current events of inventions evolve without constraint. One such Scifi event s called H+, a series let out in weekly episodes vis Youtube, looking at the way implants in particular brain implant giving access to the net and all it can and might offer. Shown over 48 episodes the link I offer below has then all in one long set, complete with all endings and adverts, Its done on the cheap, thats obvious, and its an interesting way to present the story, but sit back and look behind the story at what might be, and some of the problems. Its not an answer, neither is is what will be, just what might be, In a previous article on Robotic's, I looked at a list, Scifi was missed out, but perhaps thinking on it, I should have added it, the ability to dream and le...

Yesterday was Pi Day 3.14 Just a short not to let you know of something, I missed, yesterday, it was Pi Day, no not Pie, but Pi  Not sure that I mean, go look it up in Google, ask Gemini to explain Pi and perhaps expand the search to include infinity. Does this give you a clue to the value of Pi a number that aterts of so simply, byt is so big, it never stops, never repeats, and is so useful, not just for circles but so many things in Marth and security.

Markdown is the new me I have for a long time started a lot of books, and asrticles in Pages, or word, then Google docs, for export as ePubs, but just recently I have been exporting them into markdown .md text files and placing then into a specific Knowledgebase folder that my Obsidian program uses to show me all my knowledge, linked or specificly as individual files. I can search for specific files and edit them adding new information and updating as I see fit. google can also do much the same preserving the format of the .md file. Most of these document were originaly made as ePub documents, for distribution as an electronic book, simply because they would be easily read in any number of readers, and I could attach notes to segments of text,  that I could use in research. But as always, the reader was making this difficult, both to mark, and save, markdown files taske away all these problems and allow linking of text to larger documents to explain a point, or just my commen...

PDF V's Text for your Knowledgebase I have so many pdfs of information I have collected over the years, I tend to add them to my Obsidian Knowledgebase, and add an Abstract in text to describe the document, I then add Hashtags to aid search and linking. The reason why is that PDF documents were meant to be for printing not as a base document for information as part of a knowledgebase. I like Obsidian simply because each file is a pure text document, that links to the pdf kept in a sub folder to the main folder. So I can access the main files and alter ten easily without using Obsidian, I can search with spotlight as these files are still on my Mac, or I can use Obsidian in all its glory. #PDF #Knowldgebase Markdown-Language #Search
