Frog Up or Down

Apple of Google or Linux I sit on a fence, between Apple and Google, and no matter how hard I look at that fence, both sides will be pulling for me to by a new phone, Apple more than anything. So I sat this morning and took at long hard look and both Camp's.  Apple is mostly Calender,  Email and the Maps, for google its Calendar, Writing, Web Development, Writing blogs, Search and AI with Gemini. I share Email and Calender so no pull either way, Google AI works on what ever device I use, but is clear,  Apple is no choice but I can cope with my current phone. But using a pixel makes life a little easier for Gemini. So I am making a choice, I will move to Google Pixel a Pixel 10 XL with a decent memory. I can get a deal of the Pixel 10 from several places, so thats another pull. My only problem is moving some files back to Google, thats just a day or two's work, Email is a drop and drag and leave it alone to sync affair. So there it is, a move back to Google. Slow and sure!...

 The Frog Up or Down Silo Well finaly I have made a move, I have no wish to get caught up in Trumps rage at Europe for not backing his ambitions, so just in case my Silo is ready and sorted with an alternative email, thats swiss based, and have found a welsh server that plays well with Linux, so the only thing I have to do is start the migration of copies of all my files, 

Trump and Greenland \Well is there even such a thing as a final word on Trumps Speech, what the press says and market reaction, I have had the night to sleep on Trumps speech and I still think it was a rambling self promotion, that willl have had fact checkers scrambling for a keyboard, but the real response was disbelief from some of the BBC reporters there, Fiasal Islams face was a picture, I bet the thought , can I say what I think, or be diplomatic, I think he chose the later. But the end comments on a deal being close, made me worry, what deal with who, and whats the content, I wonder. Press this morning are saying, no deal, Denmark is not for any deal, seems Trump is trying to get a single comment from the UN sec seen as a deal !!

 Mac For Ever I sit on the Google / Apple fence, I have been Apple since 1985, and though all the ups and downs, have used Apple, Yes I have strayed, mostly because I was forced to because of work, The final place was a university and Moodle did not play well with my Mac, So Google becaue the norm, it did!. Since Genimi came out I have strayed much closer to google. I keep a lot of information, in google mostly because of research for my web site and slides that are loaded there.I don't like Gmail, compared to Apple Mail, but I was going to move over, drawn more and more by Gemini, then Apple anouces the link thats all I wanted, I stay put and the fence is now central again, I don't see it as a failour, I see it more as a we don't have time to create or hire staff from a talent pool that is not large, we have good links with google, and they will make available a version we want, and we can be back on top mid summer, its a no brainer.  Can I leave Mac Mail for Gmail I have been with Mac since about 1985 ish when I was introduced to a new Apple Mac Plus, since then I have made it my go to system, yes I have had to use Windows for work, and because of incompatabilities between Apple OS and the University sysem, I started using Gmail, why ? well it was easier to switch that fight the system, and spending time trying to find solution, was well tiresum, so and old Gmail account was used, one I got when it was first announced. I have since then retired and cleaned up Google leaving just enough to keep my account worth while, and the websites I host there, and since Gemini, a lot of my research. Which means I still pay for my account. I tried going back this week and rediverted all my Mac email back to Gmail, I can't say it was a pleasing experience, the interface and look and feel is just, not Mac. So I have returned, to Mac. I lost several days of mail that Gmail has put somewhere, so I called quits and reverted back...

  Linking with Hashtags in Google docs I like Hashtags Google Doc does not handle Hashtags as well, but thats a fix I can manage, its working with other programs I want. Hash tags are not realy supported in the same way as Apple, but it does not stop me from using them to aid search, they are after all a unique search Item, Its just I need to remember the exact spelling, even down to the use of Capitals, because Docs does not keep a list or pop up to aid. So, If I am to move away from Apple Note, and do not get me wrong, but Apple Notes is excellent, but working with Pages and Apple Notes is not so good, so I am moving back to  Google Docs, its simple and easy to use, I can export and search at ease. Apple Notes has a great way of using the little Square and arrow symbol to save a notes, Google on its own does not, however there is an extension in Chrome that does a damn good job of saving a screen link to Keep which I can use straight into Google docs by opening up the side ...

 Loosing Faith Well 2025 is over we are into 2026, and I am leaving Apple, well mostly, I will move across to Google, a place I should never have left. Why, well Apple is not just standing still, its moving backwards against Google and Linux, and I bring Linux into the equasion, simple because I view it as a place for development i so many ways for the construction industry, but Google with their integration if AI in the form of Gemini, is leaps and bounds ahead,  Even if Apple imports Gemini, and I think they will, Apple is to far behind to catch up. So I will be moving back, slowly with files I need in Google and deleating the Apple side once copied over I will keep my email as is, but at some point it will go back to Gmail,  Sorry Apple, its been a ride, but the future is Google, always was and for the forseable future will be.
